STORY EXCERPT

In November 1998, I got hit with a one-two punch that literally put me on my knees. I had gone to New York to shop the book to major publishers with my agent. When five publishers agreed to take part in a blind bid that Friday, I felt like all the frustrations were coming to an end and the book was finally going to be picked up. But by the end of the day, there were zero offers. I felt totally rejected and was ready to give up on the book once and for all. Then, a week later, on the heels of that first devastating blow, my wife had a second miscarriage. I was in tremendous emotional pain, and I asked God in great anguish why all this was happening.
